Sunday School

Our Sunday School has gone through a dramatic, innovative transformation! We have scrapped the old model where a student stays with one teacher for the whole year and have gone to a new concept called a Workshop rotation model in which the children study a theme the same theme for 4 or 5 weeks and rotate to a different workshop each week.

Children ages 4 through 12th grade participate in this exciting new program with the Sr. High youth being helpers and assistants to the teachers. Children ages 3 and under attend the traditional nursery or toddler class.

Our Goals:
• Exciting classroom activities & environments
• Focus on the major Bible Stories
• A realistic, practical & flexible program
• Educationally sound, multi-sensory approach
• Attractive to kids, parents, teachers, & visitors

The Workshop Rotation Model

Features:
• Multimedia, multi-model style of teaching & learning
• Same Bible Story taught in each workshop for a 4-5 week rotation
• Kids rotate each week, teachers stay put in the workshop of their strength
• Teachers' 4-5 week "tour of duty" requires only one planning session

All the Sunday School rooms have been freshly painted and re-decorated. Our design team (Joan Asselin, John Lafferty, Dawn Moore, Susan Scassero, and Beverly Thomas) and numerous helping hands worked hard to convert the classrooms into exciting new workshop learning environments. Juanita Crosby is working with several volunteers to paint murals on the hallway walls illustrating various scenes from the Bible.

Art Workshop - With all the supplies at our students' fingertips, they have art projects designed to encourage and reinforce some aspect of the Bible story being studied.

Audio Visual Workshop - Children learn by watching quality presentations and then discussing them. This will be done in a living room setting complete with a microwave for popping popcorn!

Bible Skills Tabernacle - Inside this TENT, kids will use several versions of the Bible to study the rotation story. Here we will also teach how to get around the Bible, Bible geography, & Bible culture.

Game Room Workshop - Christian education can be fun! Using popular game show formats and creative Bible study games, the rotation story will continue to be reinforced.

Music/Drama Workshop - A two part workshop offering numerous opportunities for the kids to express their understanding of the stories with the aid of costumes, a stage area, puppets, instruments, and music equipment.

Computer Lab Workshop - We're starting off with 4 computers and a color printer. Computers are so popular in education because they can present information in a multi-sensory fashion. Combined with good Christian software, we are reaching many kids in this popular workshop.
